Default Beginning of Factions

Is it just me or is the beginning of the factions campaign insanely hard for its level?

I just got factions today and I decided to start a Ritualist and test her out.

First of all, I could only find the primary quests, so I was only able to run half way across the whole world to get like 500 xp.
Donde esta el questos secondarios?

Also, the primary quests brought me through areas that had like lvl 6 monsters (I was about lvl 3 at the time). Is factions a henchmen oriented campaign?

Lastly, is Nightfall pretty much the same?
Becuase I ordered Nightfall and it is shipping and I am highly anticipating it. I really hope it isnt like Factions.

Thanks in advance for all the inputs,
Fellow Newb

It shouldn't be too hard. Leveling up is the fastest in Factions.

Prophecies might be a bit easier to new Guild Wars players, but all of the games have fairly easy starter quests. Just make sure you didn't miss any important quests and you'll be fine.

Edit: wow, that link is so broken. Look for the Factions link at guildwars.wikia.com under the New Player Guides.

Factions is the easiest campaign for gaining xp and a good place to start is the first town.

Each profession has I think 3 missions to gain skills.
If you start as a Ritualist then talk to one of the headmasters and choose say Monk as secondary do the missions
then try ALL the others before talking to Togo and fixing your secondary.

You should have lots of xp by then, and along the way you will pick up side quests.

There are a couple of reasonable farming areas on Shingjea island that work quite well at low level and these give you a start in money and materials.

If you do all the missions you will hit 18th level before reaching the mainland

It's just you I'm afraid......

Factions is (as stated above) the fastest campaign to level up in. Just grab some henchies and try all the different profession quests and your XP will soar faster than you can imagine, esp. when compared to the soooo much slower Prophecies.

Just wondering... have you been going solo with all your quests? If so, then yes, some parts of the starting area would be very hard. A new-born character generally doesn't have the skills/armor available to be able to solo against any but the lowest level enemies.

For most part, all GW campaigns have their quests/missions based around team play, which means either taking henchman or grouping with other players. Would suggest to always add the max number of henchmen to your party while you're still exploring and getting a feel for the game and the areas. They may take some of your experience points, but they make it much easier to survive .

Nightfall will give you heroes, which are like you own, customizable henchman - as a campaign, much more fun than Factions (for me anyway).

I think fender may just be confused- remember how Prophecies started you out in an area that was designed to be solo'd? Not so with either Factions or Nightfall. You have to bring henchmen this time.

Pick up and sell everything Unless your going to use it, when you do missions you get a token exchange the token for salvage and ID kits.
Use collectors to get your armour there isn't really a need to spend cash buying armour in the start areas.

When you do buy armour it will need money and materials by then you will know what generally salvages into what materials.

You should plan on building up stocks of materials as different armour uses differing materials so stocking up is essential if you want to avoid blowing all your money buying them.
You have storage space so use it nothing is ever wasted its all worth something.

tip
Some missions need items to complete them and many players are so lazy they will simply buy from others.
When your doing this collecting for yourself it never hurts to collect a few more than you need and sell them.

Hmmm, yes bring henchies, I can't believe you got very far in prophecies without taking at least a henchie or 2. As stated factions is the fastest for leveling up, which means it will move fast. It's actually tough to find the secondary quests, you should take a lot of time to look around shing jea monastery since people will not offer you their quests till you meet a certain criteria, and in fact go back to towns you've been through before because people will be offering you new quests that you didn't have access to before.

Factions isn't hard and if you are comparing, probably the worst would be in Proph, where getting out of the "noob" stages aka getting to LA, is long and tedious, yet very fun. Believe me factions is the easiest to level up, but a pretty bland game..

Just a protip, forget about salvaging. The return is 9 times out of 10 less than you would have made if you'd just merched. Another tip, identify EVERYTHING even the whites it adds a couple of extra gold to the value. And more gold is always good.

I enjoyed Factions the most as is was the first campaign I played. When I first stared I found it very difficult but to be honest I don't think factions is hard at all its very fast to reach level 20 in factions.

Only identify whites from lvl 20 regions, otherwise you won't get a return worth the cost of the ID.

Factions is highly placed as the easiest campaign out of the trio. I would also say that this is the easiest since you could get to level 10 or so in an hour if you actually tried.

And to answer your question : Yes. Factions is a henchman orientated campaign just like the others [Prophecies, Nightfall, and Eye of the North].
